A seven-centimeter pumpkin made of 3 mm poplar plywood. The eyes, nose and jagged mouth are laser-cut all the way through, and the pumpkin also has engraved lines. There's a hole for string in the curled stem and at the bottom of the pumpkin – great for making a garland. We ship it unpainted and in one piece – nothing to glue or assemble. Available individually or in a pack of five.
Why This One
Done in One Sitting
No glue, no drying between steps, no small pieces to lose under the table. Color it, thread the string, hang it up. That's all.
And because the face is laser-engraved, nothing can go wrong. Kids don't have to painstakingly trace anything or worry about the brush slipping.
Step-by-Step Instructions
How to Do It
Four steps and you're done. The first one is more important than it seems.
1
Use newspaper underneath, not plastic. The face is cut through, so paint has a way to slip through. On newspaper it soaks in; on plastic it spreads and the pumpkin ends up sitting in it.
2
Watercolors work best here. On wood they blend beautifully into each other – orange at the edges, yellow in the middle, and the pumpkin looks as if a candle were glowing inside it. Just go easy on the water – it is wood, after all.
3
Be careful with the teeth. The narrowest bridges of the whole pumpkin are between the teeth. Don't press on them with the brush, and don't leave them standing in water – otherwise the wood may warp. A few small strokes are enough.
4
Thread and hang. The hole is in the stem. Jute twine looks natural; clear fishing line makes the pumpkin look as if it's floating in midair.
Three Ideas for Using It
Where to Hang the Pumpkin
For the Window
Against daylight, the cut-out face becomes a silhouette. In the evening, it works just as well against a lit lamp.
For a Garland
A pack of five is enough for a garland across a window. If you color each pumpkin differently, it looks a lot better than the same thing five times.
For a Branch or Door Handle
A dry branch in a vase can easily hold three or four pumpkins. A single one, on the other hand, looks great on the door handle of a kids' room.

Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to draw in the face?
No, the eyes, nose and teeth are cut through the wood. There's nothing to draw and nothing can go wrong – just color the surface around them.
Is string for hanging included in the pack?
No, string is not included in the pack. The hanging holes are drilled in the stem and at the bottom of the pumpkin. Both jute twine and thin fishing line fit through.
Won't the teeth break?
Not with normal painting. Just don't press on them unnecessarily with the brush, and don't leave the pumpkin lying in a puddle of water – the thin wood could warp.
Is it suitable for preschool or a club?
Yes, and we know from experience that kids really enjoy this craft. Nothing needs gluing, so there's no waiting and no mess, and the activity fits into one hour. For a class of 25 kids, plan on five packs of five. We issue invoices with payment terms to preschools, schools, municipalities and organizations – just enter the organization's name and its registration or tax ID number when you order.
